Arvanitsa
Arvanitsa is a 30-acre plateau at an altitude of 1,000m, at the foot of the highest peak of Mount Helicon, Paliovouna (1,748m). It is situated between the villages Kiriaki (8km) an Ag. Anna (6km) only 145km (≅ 1.5 hours via Ag. Anna) away from Athens.
Arvanitsa plateau is an ideal destination for recreation all year round; the visitor will enjoy the beauty of the alpine landscape and will breathe fresh air walking in the lush green fir forest.
Of course, it is recommended for families since parents will let their children enjoy playing in the nature without fear. Moreover, there is a café-restaurant under the same name “Arvanitsa” with plenty of choices for every taste and an outdoor playground around it.
Also noteworthy is that, in the middle of July, the Hellenic Mountaineering Association of Kiriaki holds a three-day music event, the “Arvanitsa Forest Festival”, one of the biggest festivals in Greece, with a great number of people camping under the shadow of the fir trees in order to enjoy the performance of famous artists of the domestic music industry.
Finally, for hiking lovers, the 3 highest peaks of Helikon are nearby: Paliovouna (1,748m), Tsiveri (1,561m) and Megali Loutsa (1,547m), which offer a magnificent view of the Gulf of Corinth, the Mount Parnassos and beyond.
